Voice might finally become a thing.
As I find myself using more and more AI tools, what I also find myself feeling gravitated towards a smaller, lighter device. I just need a device I can speak into and it can speak back to me. It simply has to record what I say and save it.
And then I thought, why do I even need a screen? Most of the information that I need is enough if the device speaks to me about it. Except maybe lists because I find lists are not suited for voice output. I want to have a look at the list. I don't want to listen to a list. So maybe lists are one thing that I would want a screen to look at. Photos. I don't use photos app often. And if I want to click a picture, I would rather use a camera than a phone. Point and shoot would be a better deal for me.
Anyway, I think I could get by 80% of the time with just a voice input/output device.
So maybe a device the size of an Apple Watch would be great. Maybe even a foldable of even a smaller size than the Galaxy Flip phone would be a great device I think. Maybe glass. Glasses could be another thing that could catch on. But the device has to have a screen. Small screen is necessary. I like what Humane had done with the projector thing. Although I still think it's quite impractical, it's just fun.
Also it got me thinking about what these companies would do which are built on people having large screens in their pockets. Instagram, TikTok and others. It would be interesting to see how they adapt to this new world.
So net net, I'm quite positive that phones would shrink in size and would become a completely different sort of an interface than what we have now. Meta, TikTok and others, will have to adapt to this new world. Voice might finally become a thing.
